-(9 years old)- I got started driving a superstock quarter midget for a friend of the family, Wayne Hurd, at the Blackbird Quarter Midget club track in New Castle De. My brother was already racing there. I started 2nd and lead the whole race, my first race ever and the only one for the year, but I was totally addicted to the thrill. Click the pictures for enlargement.

- My brother and I both raced at Blackbird and other local tracks. I raced Senior Honda (3 1/2). My brother raced a Half Midget (4 1/2 hp). My uncle Dennis (Collett) joined us as a Handler and crew member (my dad had back surgery) he is still with me today.

- I continued racing at Blackbird and other local tracks, but now I was in something a little quicker, my brother's Half Midget from from 1997, with a 5hp Briggs and Stratton motor putting out about 22hp.

- I again raced a Half Midget car, same motor as 1998 but a new style chassis. The chassis was like a Micro midget and had totally different handling. This year we went to the QMA Dirt Grands in Springfield, Illinois were I blew the motor leading the "C" main (bad qualifying) with 2 laps to go.

- (14 years old) This year I made a giant leap (in car size and hp) moving up to a dwarf car with an 1100cc Suzuki motorcycle engine in it. I raced primarily at Delaware International Speedway and traveled to other tracks in the northeast.

- I switched from a dwarf car to a modified lite. It was the same chassis and engine from 2000 with a new style body. About midway through the racing season I broke my arm at a high school lacrosse practice session and sat out the rest of the season (racing and lacrosse).

- I made a monstrous step to a 360 sprint car ( I still didn't have my drivers license! )and raced with the United Racing Club through out the northeast. I had planned to race at only Delaware International Speedway races. But after an early season practice I knew this was too much fun for just a few races. So with the backing of some great sponsors and crew members I ended up racing 22 of 32 races schedule ( I cant race New Jersey until age 18). I was very satisfied with the season. We finished 2nd in rookie points and 30th over all, and all the featured races that I started . I had multiple top 20 finishes and had my best finishes of the year (5th and 12th) on a trip to Canada. I also picked up some new crew members Scott Baker ( a former motorcycle and micro midgets racer and currently a part time sprint car racer), Mike Baker, Kevin West.

- The 2003 season was again a respectful season for the Collett & Son's Racing Team. The majority of the season was raced with The United Racing Club, competing in 15 out of the total 24-race schedule and finishing 23 in URC points. The highest finish racing with URC was a 4th place finish. There were 2 heat race wins coming at Delaware International Speedway, Big Diamond Raceway, and a B- main win. The team also received some 410 sprint car experience at the end of the season finishing a solid 16th after starting 24th in the A-main at Hagerstown Speedways' October fest.

- The 2004 season, the fourth for the Collett & Son’s Welding team was filled with good finishes. Qualifying for our first National Open at Williams Grove Speedway against some of the toughest competition in the country. Most of the season was spent racing with the United Racing Club throughout the northeast. Although, the team did make a trip south to race with U.S.C.S 360-sprint cars in Tennessee and South Carolina. The 4J’s Crew also competed in seven 410-sprint car races, four of which were World Of Outlaw events.

Review - The 2005 season was full of ups and downs for the 69 team. We traveled to seven different states along the east coast and collected many good finishes. The team was able to get their first sprint car win; the win came at Williams Grove Speedway, in the 410ci super sprint series. Then through the middle of the year the Collett Team scored another win in North Carolina with the 360 cubic inch powered sprint. The Collett and Son's car made two media appearances one at 4J's Ice Cream and Dairy Bar in Middletown, DE, and another appearance at the Dover International Speedway for the NASCAR KIDS ZONE. Both appearances were a success. In total the team made over 50 events.

Review - The 2006 racing season is closed as well as another great year for the Collett & Son’s Racing Team. This past season was filled with many good finishes, many of these finishes were top fives and others were top tens. Throughout the year the team made appearances in 6 different states along the east coast; Delaware (4 visits), Pennsylvania (10), New Jersey (2), North Carolina (2), Virginia (2), and Maryland (2).  Along with the appearances at the race track the Collett & Son’s Team was seen at Silver Lake Elementary School, Sunrise Bagel Café, or Cochran’s Liquors displaying driving safety, and getting customers involved with our sponsors and sprint cars. Everyone at Collett & Son’s Racing would like to thank all sponsors and people involved with the team for making it, just that, a TEAM.     THANKS
