Bridgeport crash and notes....
The events at Bridgeport speedway saw Justin and the 69 Collett & Son's car take a wild series of spins after hitting the 1st turn wall. Justin suffered a broken ankle in the accident sidelining him for hopefully only 6 weeks. The torque tube was whipping around in the drivers compartment after it broke away from the motor plate during the accident.

Justin and the sunrise bagel cafe crew would like you thank all of those who lended a hand while loading the car into the trailer Friday night.

Justin Collett Wins at Delaware International 5-12-07

Taylor & Messick Delaware Sprint Series Continues . . . . .
JUSTIN COLLETT CHARGES FROM FIFTEENTH FOR FIRST URC CAREER WIN SATURDAY NIGHT AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL

DELMAR, DE . . . Justin Collett of Middletown, DE will remember his first URC career win for a long time.
And it certainly was no gift.

Collett started fifteenth in a strong and talented field of twenty-four starters, then began his charge to the front. By lap nine, Collett was running second and now had to pass the Master, Kramer Williamson who was the early race leader. The battle was fierce, but on lap twenty-two, Collett made an outside pass to take the lead and go on to score his first career URC Bar's Leak Sprint Series feature win. Collett was thrilled, spinning his URC sprint car in victory lane, then exiting the car to earn the roar of approval from the Delaware International fans. Collett earned $2,000 for the win and regained the URC point lead. Four races into the season, URC has delivered four different feature winners.

A field of twenty-six URC Sprints turned out for the fourth point race of the season and second event under the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series. Heat race victories went to Mike Kostic, Kramer Williamson and Jimmy Martin Jr. During the running of the second heat, Williamson turned one lap at a time of 16.839 to earn the LikeWise Construction Fast Time of the night award. The Don Ott "B" Main winner was Mark Bitner.

In the twenty-five lap URC feature, Kramer Williamson gunned into the lead from his front row starting spot. The caution was displayed for a first turn tangle involving Dave Betts, Adam Gordon and Trevor Lewis. All three drivers walked away uninjured.

On the restart, Williamson ran to hide from the rest of the field with Mike Kostic and Gary Gollub in the chase. Steady Eddie Aikin quickly moved into third and began to chase down Mike Kostic. Without any warning, Justin Collett moved into the picture and powered into second on lap nine.

A caution flag was displayed on lap eleven for Brian Brittingham who stopped in turn one. Green flag racing resumed and Williamson led lap twelve before the caution was again displayed, this time for Adam Gordon who stopped in turn four.

The field regrouped and Williamson darted at the drop of the green flag. As the field crossed for the halfway sign, Williamson was on point followed by Collett, Scott Pursell, Ed Aikin and Jimmy Martin Jr. The final caution was displayed for Robbie Stillwaggon who spun on the backstretch, tapping the inside wall.

With the green flag waiving, Williamson ran to hide but Collett remained in the shadow. By lap sixteen, Collett was on a charge and looking for a lane to make the pass. With just five laps remaining, Collett was knocking on the door with lapped traffic just ahead to make things interesting. On lap twenty-two, Collett powered into the lead and went on to score his first URC career win. Williamson finished second with Scott Pursell turning in a fine ride for third. The Bar's Leaks sprint car of Jimmy Martin Jr rallied home in fourth with Ed Aikin fifth. Making up the top ten were Jason Clauss, Brook Weibley, Brian Seidel, Mike Kostic and Michael Carber.

The Collett & Son’s Racing Team is planning on another successful year in sprint car racing. We will be competing in both the 410ci and 360ci sprint car classes. The team will still be traveling and trying our best to win races, and get good solid finishes like last season. We are planning on racing more 410ci races along with the World of Outlaws in the hopes of gaining more television coverage for our sponsors.

News From Sunny Florida

The early start for the Collett & Son’s team proved to be a positive learning experience. The new JEI performance car worked very well especially later in the evening. The whole team enjoyed being able to race consecutively for 6 nights. This continuous racing schedule allowed us to improve the car each day making it better than the night before. We would like to thank JEI Performance as well as Kriners Racing Engines for all of their help while in Florida. (Photo©: DirtRacin.com)
